Tapas
Our Ethos
At Plonk’d, we invite you to experience the vibrant flavours of Spain, right here in the heart of Wadebridge. Our passion for Spanish food culture has been shaped and inspired by our travels from the bustling Tapas bars of Alicante to the Coastal Pintxos spots in the Basque Country.
What is Tapas?
Tapas is more than just a meal – it’s a way of life. In Spain, Tapas refers to a style of eating that’s all about sharing, socialising, and trying a variety of small dishes. Tapas can be as simple as a plate of olives or as elaborate as slow-cooked meats or seafood. At Plonk’d, we believe that the joy of tapas lies in its versatility. Whether you’re after a light bite to accompany a glass of wine or a full feast, Tapas allows you to eat as little or as much as you like.
Our tapas menu is designed for sharing, making it a fun and interactive dining experience. With a wide variety of dishes catering to all palates, from meat lovers to vegetarians, there’s something for everyone at our restaurant.
Our Menu Philosophy
Our menu is inspired by the seasons and the simple beauty of high-quality ingredients. We work closely with trusted suppliers to source the freshest produce, ensuring that every dish reflects the best of what’s available locally as well as importing certain products we are unable to find here, directly from Spain. This commitment to quality is at the core of our cooking, we let the ingredients speak for themselves. Our ever-evolving menu changes with the seasons, so you can expect fresh and exciting dishes every time you visit.
Tapas vs. Pintxos – What’s the Difference?
While Tapas is well-known, we also specialise in Pintxos (pronounced "peen-chos"), a popular style of eating from Northern Spain, particularly the Basque region.
Tapas are typically small, shareable plates, more common in Southern Spain. Pintxos are bite-sized portions usually skewered with a toothpick and often served on a slice of bread, typically displayed on the bars in regions of Northern Spain.
